Countdown to Copenhagen

Entry Information

  • Entries may only include students first name and last initial, grade, state and/or country. Please do not include school name, city name, email address or other personally identifying information on the contest entry.
  • Entries can be in the following formats:
        1. Video or audio tape (maximum length 1 minute)
        2. Written document (maximum 200 words)
        3. PowerPoint presentation (maximum 7 slides)
  • Contest begins Sept 21, 2009.
  • Entries must be submitted by midnight, November 21, 2009, 11:00 pm EDT.

Award Information

  • Winners will be announced on December 4, 2009.
  • ePals will post winning entries on the ePals website and on Conservation International website.
  • Winning entries in each grade category will be compiled on a DVD and presented at the Copenhagen Climate Conference, December 7-18, 2009.
  • Winning entrants will receive copies of the DVD and Award Certificates.
  • ePals will promote winning entries in relevant trade, education and association journals.
  • Awardees under the age of 13 will be required to have appropriate permissions before their entries can be included on the compilation DVD.

Criteria for Assessment

  • Entries will be evaluated by members of ePals Advisory Committee, as well as ePals and Conservation International staff members. The Advisory Committee will use a rubric based on the following attributes:
    • thoughtful selection of issues,
    • overall effectiveness of delivery,
    • quality of content,
    • creativity,
    • technical quality, and
    • adherence to the format guidelines for the contest.
